Fine art photographer Stephen Bullock brings contemplation to life in mirrored organic patterns.

His formative years brought early admiration for the grace of trees and public gardens, often creating handmade kaleidoscopes of fall leaves.

Borrowing from collaborations with neurologists and Zen teachers, his work is uncommonly observant of nature as a mirror for personal reflection.

Now, unifying as few as 2 and as many as 96 organic elements in a single outcome, his symmetrical imagery has quickly evolved into ethereal, large-scale love letters to nature.

Stephen works closely with individuals and designers to create serene, inventive spaces with flat and dimensional art forms. Clients and collections include Chicago Art Source, Mandarin Oriental Hotels, Miraval Resorts, Hilton Head Health, Hyatt Worldwide, The London Clinic, numerous U.S. wellness destinations, Architectural Digest, American Spa, Chicago Magazine, and dozens of corporate and individual collections.

Artist’s Statement

I am awakened by the natural world moving through time. Its intricacy, layers, rhythms and remains. Markers of our memories, indelible parallels of our own transitions.

Unlike how daily life puts everything in its place, nature asks us to disappear into the newness of things. If even for a moment, my pictures are about being immersed in this present.

Rather than depicting nature, I want to convey how it resonates. The embodiment of endlessness, how I visualize it has evolved from recording objects and order, to making images without time and horizon.

In doing so, I am no longer a distant observer, but all in, suspended … between familiar and abstract, absence and presence, seeing and experiencing.
